How to be organized and start making life easier for yourself. Being organized is one of those things that comes naturally for some people and others struggle everyday just to scratch the surface of organization. There are several tricks to getting different parts of your life organized and truthfully if you can master one aspect of organizationĀ then they others will follow behind with much less effect.
There are several types of organization that you experience in your life such as time management, reducing clutter, putting things in their proper place, etc. For most people who want to get their lives organized the best place to start with is your home. I’m not saying go in and clean your house or go and throw everything away and start over either. Someone once told me “Everything has a place and if it doesn’t find one for it.” After that, It started me on anĀ organization quest. I looked around my house and found that most of my stuff didn’t have a place. People would come over and say things like “How can you find anything in this mess?” Truthfully, I could find most anything I was looking for but my placement of objects was very out of whack.
I had several “junk drawers” that were full of everything I didn’t put somewhere else. These drawers got cleaned out eventually and then drawers full of junk became boxes full of junk in storage etc. The good news is that these habits and other similar ones are easily changeable.
I read somewhere that the reason organization comes so naturally to some people and not to others may have something to do with which side of your brain is dominant. They say left brain people naturally put things in order and right brain people use their brains to make connections but not put things in a particular order. Some people may use both close to equal and in others their might be a huge difference in the use of each side of the brain.
It doesn’t really matter for what reason you might be unorganized every single human being has the ability to be organized and all it takes is a little motivation and effort. Start with something simple and work your way up. If you decide to start organizing your home start with organizing your kitchen or maybe a closet. Then after you organize an area make all the effort to put the things you organized in the exact place they go no matter what! Even if you come home from work tired and you would normally take your shoes off and leave them in the floor make the extra effort and put them where they belong. At first this will seem like a chore but after a month or so you will be doing this automatically without even thinking about it.
Getting organized is fun, it really is! After your house is organized or wherever you start move on to other parts of your life. Get a calendar write down important dates, bills, plans, days off, etc. The benefits of being organized or tremendous. Some include:
- You will be able to find things easily
- With all of the clutter gone your stress levels will drop
- You will be glad to spend more time in your house and you won’t mind inviting people over
- Your time management will get better and you will have more time to do the things you love
- You will end up taking better care of the things you own and save $$$$$
- Its a great hobby
These are just a small amount of the benefits of being organized but you get the idea. This is just a starting article and I plan on writing an update in the future to let you know how this has worked out for me. Good luck and I know you can do it!
